Reviews Tin Poppy Retreat

Our stay at the Tin Poppy was better than I expected. We loved the space and appreciated all of the little touches included upon arrival. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality and service. I highly recommend a getaway at the Tin Poppy to anyone who is seeking a lovely private space submerged in nature and surrounded by wildlife! Maggie is an excellent host and so friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you for hosting our annual girls weekend. I know I would love to stay again.

What a beautiful experience all around. We loved every moment of our stay. Super cool and well built cabin and sauna nestled into a lovely natural setting.

Wild Rose Cabin

This was the most wonderful and magical place. I recommend this cabin to anyone and everyone. What a magnificent stay :)

Violet Cabin is a little slice of rustic heaven! This was our second visit here, and it was every bit as enjoyable as our first weekend getaway. The cabin is built beautifully and very spacious. If you want to unplug from your everyday life to spend some time reading by a cozy fire, snowshoeing, skiiing or sitting in lovely sauna then this cabin is for you. The kitchen also had everything we needed to cook all our own meals.

I don't think I've ever been to a place this nice. The cabin was quite, comfortable and relaxing. I love the wood stove which brought us back to 40 years ago when I was a kid...We stayed here for two nights and had snowshoeing. The cabin was also very beautiful and nicely decorated. Hosts live a few minutes away. Maggie was very nice and always responsed very qiuck. The cabin also had a nice sauna with a wood stove, which makes it quite unique. We will come back definitely.

It was great little drive into the Lavender House....the views and the coziness of the lodge were right up our alley...quiet, quaint and the best sleeps ever....ideally located ....close to the Larch Hills ski area and short trip to either Enderby, Salmon Arm or Sicamous... The Lavender House was exactly what we needed...we loved the drive in thru the large trees, the views of the below valley were different every night....the kitchen and dinning area were our gathering spot and it gave us a great chance to catch up with some old friends...while cooking and laughing together....the off grid made us think about our consumption habits of both water and electricity .....both good reminders....mind you we had no issues of running out of hot water or loss of power... In summary...Lavender House was exactly what we needed...that's what a stay should be....a group of friends catching up on each others lives while also making some new memories...Maggie was great host and made our stay very comfortable. Don't hesitate....go treat yourself:)

We had a great time staying in the Violet Cabin. We stayed in winter and were very warm, the fire was lit and ready for us when we arrived. The cabin was even better then expected, quite large and roomy. We cooked as much of our food ahead of time as we could. I would highly recommend this as kitchen space and equipment is as limited as you would expect in an off grid cabin. Small stove/oven or the BBQ work well to put the final touches on your meals. Outside is quite private and our dog had a blast playing in the snow and going on one of the snowshoe trails on the property. We enjoyed our stay here and will be going back in the future.

Violet Cabin

We had a wonderful new years eve stay. The cabin and its surroundings were beautiful and Maggie was always quick to respond and help in any way she could. The fireplace kept the cabin very warm! We will definitely be back!

Wild rose Cabin

Wonderful cabin. Great atmosphere. Very close to XC Skiing. Better than expected. I recommend to bring an extra lantern or headlamp as it can be dark inside the cabin, otherwise everything else was perfect.

Wild Rose cabin

The Wild Rose cabin is idyllic in abundance - beautiful views of the valley to wake up to, cozy spots to read by the fire, and thoughtful decorations all around. This cabin was a great place to unwind for 4 days, not check the time, and enjoy the hiking and walking that this region has to offer.

Awesome, whimsical and quiet place

Lavender House

The Violet cabin was so incredible! If your looking for a quiet place with nothing to do but relax by a fire and explore the area this is for you. We spent Christmas Day here and loved the cosy vibe it gave us, certainly made Christmas magical. We cooked very easily with the propane appliances and everything you possibly need for an off the grid location is provided. I would suggest taking a few candles of your own for a little more light but it’s not really needed just an extra luxury as Maggie provides a lantern and of course the propane lights. I can only say great things about this cosy place with an added bonus of a sauna and the cutest love heart walking trail over looking a stunning view where my boyfriend actually proposed to me <3 We have made wonderful memories here and will be back to create more!

Violet Cabin

The violet cabin is exactly what we needed. Completely off the grid let’s you appreciate the things in life we take for granted. If you’re looking for a space to relax, disconnect from the world and connect with your partner this is the place!

Violet Cabin

Fantastic place to get away on a retreat. They have a spectacular view and very hospitable accommodations. I highly recommend this place!

Lavender House

This is quite a magical place and I can totally imagine this being a winter wonderland with friends. So cosy. The drive up was a little wild and so it got us in the mood for a great little secret spot. I would totally come back if we were in Canada. We loved it.

There were so many special touches in this house! Seamless check in and check out. We were so cozy and the sun room areas were our favourite. It was great to cook our own food. The views were incredible! Our group agreed that we would all want to stay here again. We were perfectly accommodated.

You just gotta go. It's outstanding. Fun. Gorgeous. Relaxing. Cabin in the woods meets mid century modern. Clean. Great for kids. Great without kids. Maggie has thought of everything and it's obvious. We are bringing our entire extended family back...truly incredible.

The Wild Rose cabin can be a bit of a jaunt to get to but when there, it's a legitimate cabin in the woods. We used it as a base to explore the area and do some mtn biking. The kitchen and bbq were great for meals. The covered porch made bbq'ing an easy way to make dinner and also away from the mosquitos. We didn't get to use the fire pit when there as temperatures were in the low 30's but is a nice option. The solar shower was warm/hot enough and helped us with cooling off after. The only issues we had were the mosquitos. There were many. But we had bug nets and bug spray so if we were outdoors packing the car or going to the outhouse it wasn't an issue. But they were relentless. We had the unique experience to watch a thunder storm move up the valley. Sitting on the porch watching a lighting storm was phenomenal but the view from the porch alone was great for morning cups of coffee and evening bevies.

he Tin Poppy is the kind of gem that inspires secrecy - a jewel of a place you want future guests to revere as much as you do. The building is a unique treasure, a visionary space that inspires ecstasy (not exaggerating). The Tower Room, as we dubbed it, offers a 360 degree view. The screened-in Main Room with its extraordinary high ceiling and massive breezy curtains is a space you will never forget. Inside the caravan are magic beds that create the perfect conditions for full, restful nights of deep sleep. The tidy kitchen has everything you need to cook meals in this wilderness retreat, and the outdoor shower was perfect for quickly cooling down. Clean, comfortable, awe-inspiring. A magnificent experience.

The Violet Cabin was clean, cozy, and comfortable - perfect for a rainy weekend in front of the wood stove! A great way to unplug and enjoy the company of someone special :)

Amazing scenery, beautiful architecture and fabulous furniture! Perfect if you are looking for a cute cottage to stay for hiking or adventuring in the area but also has great amenities for cozy quality time inside. Lots of beds would be great for a group or family but there is also a romantic air to the whole property so this location would also be great for a couples dream retreat. Maggie was a great hostest and made checking in and out a breeze. Will definitely go back in the future!

We enjoyed our stay at the Lavender House! It was a little difficult to find in the snow storm. Overall, it added to a perfect sledding weekend with a nice wood stove heated home!

Lavender House

Amazing spot to go for a quiet romantic vacation. I want to live here!! Beautiful views and Maggie made sure we had everything we needed. It was truly a cool experience in the wilderness. Especially the outdoor wood burning sauna . Thanks so much for letting us stay in your beautiful cabin.

Violet cabin

We thoroughly enjoyed our peaceful stay in the Violet Cabin at Tin Poppy Retreat. The location of all the cabins is quiet and lovely. We did a great little snowshoe to a lookout overlooking the valley and river. The Violet Cabin is beautifully built. Sound as sound could be. We were there in early February and were toasty warm thanks to an amazingly efficient long burning wood stove. The couches and bed super comfy. We brought headlamps to read our books after Nordic skiing at Larch Hills. There are propane lamps but my eyes needed extra light to read by at night. And do use the sauna. So relaxing and floor to ceiling window looks into the forest - stunning. Ample water is stocked in the very clean cabin . The cabin has thoughtful little touches and some unique quirky art and decorations waiting for you to find them. Also our dog loved her location

 too.

My partner and I had a perfect, relaxing getaway weekend at Violet Cabin! The cabin is cozy and stylish with tons of space, and everything we needed to cook our meals (stove, pots, pans etc.) was provided so that we didn't need to leave the comfort of our little retreat. The sauna right behind the cabin was fantastic after an afternoon of snowshoeing in the surrounding area. It snowed quite heavily the night we arrived, but the roads were well-maintained and our little Honda Fit was able to make it to within a 3 minute walk to the cabin. Maggie was a great host and we highly recommend staying here!

Violet Cabin

Our stay at Violet Cabin was one of our favourite airbnb getaways to date... the house is lovelier than the pictures suggest, and the wintery vibes of the area make it a perfect spot to spend a snowy day. Would go back in a heartbeat!

Violet Cabin

Maggie's place is in a gorgeous location for a winter visit. Snowshoeing around the property and out to the viewpoint over the valley was a highlight. The kitchen space with the gas fire near the table is very cosey for mealtimes and games. We even ventured up to the upstairs bit of the porch for a drink with great views—will have to come back in summer to enjoy that space for longer! We also enjoyed the wood-fired sauna, which is right outside the door to the place.

Tin Poppy

Great place to stay with a large group in the summer and sleep under the stars. It was autumn when we stayed so a bit chilly but nevertheless we had a great stay. It’s set in some lovely woods up a dirt track just great to get away from it all. The fire pit is perfect to watch stars and have beers! The porch is a great place to eat and for kids to play when it’s dark. Everything is provided and all in great working order kitchen is great. Beds all comfy and warm the duvets are amazing!! Loved our stay

Four of us gals were looking for a relaxing and fun weekend getaway, and the Lavender House totally hit the mark! It was like staying at a mountain chateau, warm and spacious, an idyllic locale, perfect for kicking back. The location is so beautiful, with walks and hikes nearby in the woods. Maggie was a wonderful host, making sure we had everything we needed. (Thanks for the g.f energy bites, Maggie!) We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lavender and are already planning for our return next year.
