Elopements at Tin Poppy Retreat (a how to guide)

Updated: Mar 4

We offer environmentally sustainable elopements & weddings in the North Okanagan / Shuswap region of British Columbia. We are located in the Larch Hills, 25 minutes from Salmon Arm and Enderby. Every one of our elopements is unique, authentic, and so personal, but this little article will act as a guideline on a classical two person or family elopement at Tin Poppy Retreat.

How to Book

This 2 night package is $3200 + tax

A $1000 deposit is due upon booking which we then use to secure your commissioner, and photographer.

The balance is due on month prior to your elopement date.

We then connect you via email to your marriage commissioner who will guide you, and answer any questions you may have regarding your vows.

We are also always available to answer any questions you may have though out your elopement process.

We will send you contact information for hair and makeup vendors.

The Day Before (check in day)

Usually the couple likes to chill out on the check in night (and enjoy our complimentary foodie gift basket;) and have the ceremony the next day, not always though! We’ve have had the couple show up ready as rain to tie the knot! This is your elopement, and it is totally up to you how you’d like this special time to unfold.

Some marriage commissioners will want to come up the night before and meet with the couple, see their marriage license and get some of the paper work filled out.

The Day Of

We can only speculate, but our guess is that it goes something like this…..

The couple has a wonderful stress free sleep, so wakes up rested, has coffee out on the deck and a leisurely breakfast, feeds the kiddos (if there are any) and then will maybe takes the pup for a little walk on the trails…..

If a makeup artist was booked, she will arrive in time to do all the hair and makeup required well before the ceremony.

20 - 30 Minutes Prior to the Ceremony

Your marriage commissioner, the cake, blooms and your photographer will arrive.

The photographer will want to get some pre-wedding shots, they will also be shooting throughout your ceremony,

and will then want to take to you to some of their favourite backdrops on the property, so it’s a good idea to bring appropriate footwear.

The Aftermath

You’ll be married and we hope that you spent the rest of your stay, enjoying the pause and charting your new dreams.
